Bottom Drain Inlet to PondSweep®
Skimmer
Use a pond bottom drain inlet to
the skimmer:
-
Any time the pond is 3-feet
or deeper
-
Any time the pond will not
have gravel on the liner
-
Any time you want the
ultimate in pond cleaning, such as when keeping koi. The bottom inlet
creates a DUAL-FLOW filter box, skimming the TOP of the pond and pulling
water from the BOTTOM of the pond...simultaneously.
-
If you will use underwater
lights, the bottom inlet helps remove suspended debris that the underwater
lights would otherwise light up at night.
Here's how it works:
-
The pump in the PondSweep®
skimmer creates a lower water level in the skimmer box.
-
As a result water rushes into
the box from the pond over the bellows weir door, creating a skimming action
on the pond's surface water.
-
Since water seeks its own
level, the bottom drain can be positioned anywhere in the pond from top to
bottom, and water will enter the inlet to help fill the skimmer, i.e.
"seek its own level".
-
Another analogy- think of the
bottom drain line as part of a "U-shaped" tube. Water is poured
into the "U" on the left side (the pond side) and it immediately
rises on the right side of the "U" (the skimmer box side) to
equalize the water level on both sides of the U-shaped tube.

Tetra Bottom Drain
The regular Tetra bottom drain
assembly does make a hole through the bottom of the liner thereby providing an
easy method to drain the pond.

The Tetra Vacuum drain does not
require a hole in the liner. It is designed for bare bottom koi ponds and for
bottom drain retrofits.
